Several Misunderstandings in the Use of V-belts

1. Reduce the diameter of the driving pulley. The life of the belt is determined by the bending stress and the number of bendings. The bending stress is generated when the belt is wound into the pulley. The smaller the diameter of the pulley is, the greater the bending stress is. It will cause fatigue and breakage of the belt during operation.

2. Mix old and new. In order to save costs, only those old and damaged belts are replaced, and old and new belts are used together. All the initial tension that should be shared by the belts is transferred to the new belt, which causes the initial tension of the new belt to be too large and causes the new belt to wear too quickly.

3. Increase the center distance of the main and driven pulleys at will. When the belt is used for a period of time, due to repeated stretching, the belt will inevitably relax and deform. At this time, the initial tension between the belt and the pulley is restored by increasing the center distance and setting the tension wheel. However, if the center distance between the two pulleys is too large, the belt will be shaken, and the belt's carrying capacity will be reduced.

4. The belt is too tight. The belt drive relies on the friction between the belt and the pulley to transmit motion and torque. Increasing the positive pressure between the belt and the pulley will cause the pulley shaft to bend. Under the long-term effect, the contact force between the pulley shaft and the bearing will be uneven, resulting in uneven wear of the bearing or even the early scrapping of the bearing or shaft. The tension of the belt should be 10-15 mm under the thumb.

5. No protective decoration is added. Because the belt is a rubber product, it is not resistant to acid, alkali, oil and ultraviolet rays, so if the belt is exposed to the outside environment without covering, it will inevitably cause the belt to crack and aging prematurely. At the same time, if no protective device is installed High-speed rotation may also cause personal injury.
