How to Check and Adjust the Tension of V-Belt

Many accessories such as battery power supply, air conditioning system, etc. need to be driven by belts. Therefore, the V-Belt is very important to the engine. The engine cannot work normally if the belt is not in good condition.

The transmission system has a power unit. The power for transporting goods comes from the engine. When the engine is started, it will drive the rotation of the shaft. The shaft drives the operation of the rollers. The rollers also drive the cyclic rotation of the transmission belt through friction. From this point, it can be seen that no matter how it is maintained, it will have friction, but with the correct operation and maintenance techniques, it can reduce friction and wear.

(1) Check the condition and tightness of the belt.

Check whether the belt is damaged or peeling. Before the belt breaks, there will be a slipping sound, and there will be cracks, wear and peeling on the belt surface. Therefore, it should be carefully observed, if the above phenomenon occurs, the belt should be replaced in time (note the difference: when the belt is not tight enough, there will also be slipping noise). Check the tightness of the belt. When pressing the middle part of the belt with your thumb with a force of 9-10kg, the deflection should be 5-10mm. If it does not meet the requirements, it should be adjusted.

(2) Adjust the tightness of the V-belt.

After adjusting the belt tightness, the fixing bolts should be tightened reliably. Be careful not to over-tighten the belt, otherwise the belt will be too tight and damage the belt and bearings. Care should be taken to prevent the belt from being contaminated with grease, otherwise it will cause slipping and shorten its service life.

(3) Check the installation status of the belt.

Some engines use flat fan belts. Check the coordination between the belt and the pulley when installing it on the pulley. The belt should cooperate well with the pulley, otherwise the life of the belt will not be long. When an error occurs, it should be corrected in time.
